The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms Jayalalithaa, has issued orders for the implementation of the first phase of Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation and Water Bodies Restoration project in Vellore, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Poonamallee districts. The value of the developmental work is estimated at Rs 22.40 crore and about 54 tanks would be covered in these areas.
The Chief Minister has issued the orders in this regard, an official release here said. As part of the project, the system and non-system tanks in Tiruvallur, Poonamallee and Kancheepuram districts would be modernised during the first phase, it said. —
