Wheat and rice basmati prices rose up to Rs 50 a quintal on the wholesale grains market on Saturday on pick-up in demand amidst tight supply.
Traders said a rise in demand, amid fall in arrivals from producing region, led to rise in wheat and rice basmati Prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,340-1,345, while atta chakki delivery traded higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1,345-1,350 for 90 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety gained Rs 50 to Rs 4,500-5,600 a quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,600-5,700, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,500-5,600, Permal raw 1,900-1,950, Permal wand 2,050-2,200, Sela 2,175-2,230 and Rice IR-8 1,770-1,795, Bajra 830-840, Jowar yellow 880-980, white 1,800-1,850, Maize 1,100-1,110, Barley (UP) 1,260-1,280 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
