In a sudden turn of events at the Amul marketer Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF), the managing director, RS Sodhi has resigned on Monday.
Jayen Mehta, Chief Operating Officer of the dairy major has been assigned the charge as the MD.
The unconfirmed reports suggest he has been asked to quit by the Board of Directors, which includes the heads of 18 member dairy unions of Gujarat. Further details are awaited.
Sodhi, has been at the helm of affairs at Amul Federation since 2010.
In June 11, 2010, Sodhi, then Chief General Manager at the Federation, was given charge of Managing Director after incumbent MD, BM Vyas, resigned. Sodhi served a full 5-year term as MD, which was later extended in 2015 with another 5-year term ending on December 31, 2020. Sodhi has been on extension since then.
