The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd has urged the growers not to worry about the reported threat of ban on arecanut.
Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Friday, SR Satishchandra, President of Campco, said that various scientific researches have shown that arecanut in its pure form, or in the form the chewing products that contain arecanut as one of the ingredients without tobacco such as betel quid or paan masala are not harmful in normal doses.
Speaking on the occasion, Nivedan Nempe, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mystic Aromatics (which produces areca tea), said that areca tea manufactured by his start-up has got award from Indian Council of Food and Agriculture for this product. His start-up’s areca tea is now being exported to the UAE and Caribbean nations. Soon it will be exported to the Netherlands also, he added.
