The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd, in association with the Puttur-based Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology and Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd, will conduct the fourth edition of agri machinery fair ‘Krishi Yantra Mela 2019’ at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district from February 23 to 25.
Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Thursday, Campco president SR Satishchandra said the main motto of the event is to showcase and create awareness about modern farm technology. Machine manufacturers and innovators in the agri machinery field will showcase their products during the event.
To create interest about farming among students, the machines developed by high school and college students will be displayed at the fair, and the best innovative projects developed by them will be given awards.
Satishchandra said that around 3 lakh visitors from Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are expected to attend the event. During the three days, visitors will also get an opportunity to visit the chocolate factory of Campco at Puttur.
He said there will be seminars on different topics during the fair. There will be an exclusive seminar highlighting the success stories of those who came back to farming after giving up their jobs in the information technology sector.
Considering the importance of dairying in farming activities, there will be a seminar on ‘profitability in dairy farming’.
