Taking serious note of the increasing number of child labourers in the Bt Cottonseed farms of North Gujarat, a team from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), led by Dr Yogesh Dube has issued necessary directions to the State government.
The team also visited Jaipur, Rajasthan from August 9-11 team and reviewed the issues and concerns of migrating/trafficked children from Rajasthan (especially from Udaipur, Banswara and Dungarpur districts of Udaipur division) to Gujarat (Banaskanta, Sabarkanta and Patan districts) to work in the Bt. Cotton farms, according to a Ministry of Child Development release.
The governments of Rajasthan and Gujarat have since proposed plan of actions to address the issue, the release said.
