For the second consecutive week, following lower supplies, average prices rose at Sale No: 14 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions. This week’s offer of 9.56 lakh kg was the lowest of the last six weeks helping average prices to rise to ₹94.80 a kg from previous week’s ₹92.39. In all, 90 per cent of the offer was sold. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the dust auction and the entire CTC market when Vardhaman Traders bought it for ₹198. Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the leaf auction fetching ₹193. In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹244 followed by Havukal ₹238, Kairbetta ₹237 and Chamraj ₹230.
