The Arabian Sea depression '05A' has intensified into a deep depression earlier than expected and it could possibly give a crucial window 'in time and space' to execute one last spin to become tropical cyclone.

It would be named 'Thane' as per the regional convention list for naming cyclones. It would not be of any consequence for the western coast of India, though a warning is valid for fishermen venturing out into the high seas.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has maintained the watch for a cyclone in the west-central Arabian Sea but peer global models have not been as forthcoming with that outlook.

But now that '05A' is just a step way from being classified as one - at least 24 hours in time when it would stay over sufficiently warm water to fuel convection and cloud-building aided by a sudden but temporary respite in vertical wind shear, which are enough to ensure its growth as the second Arabian Sea tropical cyclone of the season.

By tomorrow, all these enabling factors may start deteriorating and put the system into the cusp of a range of possibilities with respect to its very continued life and activity.

IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places over Lakshadweep until tomorrow morning. Fishermen have been advised not venture into the rough seas along the Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts during this period.
