The traders have received good number of orders for the local finger turmeric. Some traders have received fresh demand for the local finger turmeric. But the arrival of finger turmeric has been decreased sharply. said Krishnamurthy, a trader.
He also said the arrival of turmeric for sale has been decreased to 4,500 bags, but 90 per cent of the arrived turmeric was sold. The turmeric season will be completed by the last week of May and so the traders buying good number of turmeric for supply and stock the same. The price of turmeric in the futures remains at plus status for the past fifteen days.
The price of the turmeric was decreased by ₹100 a quintal of both varieties in all the markets. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,359 to ₹8,527 , root variety was sold at ₹5,689 to ₹7,989 . Of the arrival of 3,518 bags of turmeric 2,119 bags were sold. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,294 to ₹8,577 , root variety was sold at ₹7,034 to ₹7,870 . Of the 328 bags of turmeric kept for sale, 323 bags were sold. At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,209 to ₹8,799 , root variety was sold at ₹7,119 to ₹7,869 . All the 551 bags of turmeric placed for sale, were sold.
