Cardamom prices inched up last week on good buying support from both exporters and upcountry dealers at auctions held in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

At the same time, arrivals continued to show a substantial increase as the harvesting is on full swing. Last week arrivals rose to 651 tonnes from 594 tonnes.

Export buying is estimated at over 100 tonnes, he said.The individual auction average last week was vacillating between ₹600 and ₹650 a kg. Total arrivals during the season up to August 8 stood at 24,046 tonnes against 22,243 tonnes during the same period last year.

The sales were at 23,415 tonnes and 21,493 tonnes respectively. The auction average as on August 8 was at around ₹630 (₹780) a kg.

Prices of graded varieties (₹/kg): 8mm bold good colour 880-950; 7-8 mm 730-750; 6-7 mm 610-630; below 6 mm: 580-600. Good bulk was being traded at ₹650-700 a kg.
