Spot turmeric prices at the markets in Erode decreased on higher inflow. “Many turmeric farmers brought medium variety turmeric for sale. On Thursday, 5,000 bags arrived and only 55 per cent was sold,” said Krishnamurthy a trader. He added that the price of the spice on futures platform too was low. Due to poor quality, the buyers quoted decreased price. Prices of finger turmeric were down by ₹200 a quintal in all the markets, while that of root variety improved by ₹150 at the Regulated Marketing Committee and Erode Cooperative Marketing Society.
