Sugar prices at the Vashi market declined further by ₹20-25 a quintal on Thursday as Maharashtra’s mills continued to sell at lower price on record sugar production this year and to ease surplus burden. Naka rates were steady. Arrivals were at 57-58 truck loads with local dispatches at 55-56 loads. Freight rates were steady. On Wednesday evening, Maharashtra’s 18-20 mills sold about 38,000-40,000 bags at ₹2,580-2,680 for S-grade and ₹2,670-2,810 for M-grade. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,756-2,946 and M-grade ₹2,840-3,166. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,750-3,000 and M-grade ₹2,850-3,050.
