Arrivals and sale of turmeric increased at the markets in Erode. “Many traders purchased good number of bags for their local demand. The farmers too brought some quality turmeric. Of the arrival of 2,800 bags, 70 per cent were sold. The present price may prevail for another fifteen days,” said Krishnamurthy, a trader. He said the price of the spice turmeric in all the markets across the country is in decreasing trend as North Indian traders have ample stocks and they are not placing any fresh orders now. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger variety went for ₹5,989-6,919; root variety fetched ₹5,369-6,399 a quintal. Of the 475 bags offered, 339 were sold.
