Spot prices of turmeric increased at Erode markets as traders purchased all the hybrid turmeric and new turmeric for their upcountry orders. “Though the market opened after a holiday, nearly 6,500 bags arrived to the markets and fetched higher prices. The farmers were happy over the increase in price and sale of the spice,” said Krishnamurthy, a trader. Finger turmeric prices were up ₹550 a quintal and root variety by ₹500 in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
