Sugar prices on the Vashi market extended gain by ₹16-26 a quintal on improved demand with rising temperature. Naka prices were up ₹10 and mill tender rates gained ₹10-30. Sources said that local dispatches from Vashi market remained higher than arrivals as demand continued to be higher with rising mercury. Freight rates rule steady. Prices in other main producing centres were quoted ₹20-25 higher. Arrivals were at 61-62 truck loads and local dispatches were 63-64 loads. On Saturday, 17-18 mills offered tenders and sold about 70,000-75,000 bags at ₹2,350-2,470 (2,320-2,460) for S-grade and ₹2,490-2,600 (2,480-2,600) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,476-2,582 (2,450-2,562) and M-grade ₹2,602-2,700 (2,586-2,702). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,420-2,500 (2,410-2,500) and M-grade ₹2,500-2,650 (2,490-2,640).
