A volume of 19.44 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 22 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions which will conclude on Friday. This is some nine thousand kg more than last week’s offer. Of this, 12.03 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 7.41 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 18.16 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.28 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 80,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 11.23 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 48,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.93 lakh kg, CTC. PS Sundar
