Kochi tea auction continued to witness a mixed trend for almost all varieties of tea.
In sale no. 29, the quantity on offer in the CTC dust category was 10,79,000 kg and there was better demand, which was strengthened as the sale progressed.
The market for good liquoring teas was dearer by Rs 5-10. Prices improved with longer margins by Rs 10-15 and sometimes more. Mediums were irregularly dearer by Rs 2-3 and sometimes more. Plainer varieties were irregular.
Kerala loose tea traders and upcountry buyers lent fair support, while there was subdued demand in export buying which was confined to medium and plainer varieties.
Of the quantity of 7,000 kg on offer in the orthodox grade, the market was lower and witnessed heavy withdrawals with subdued demand from exporters and upcountry buyers.
In the best CTC dust sale, PD varieties quoted at Rs 95-97, RD grades ruled at Rs 90-99, SRD fetched Rs 93-100 while SFD stood at Rs 95/110.
Nilgiri varieties also witnessed a mixed trend and the quantity on offer in the orthodox grade was 1,31,500 kg.
The market for Nilgiri varieties was barely steady and tended to ease following quality, while medium bolder brokens, tippy grades were firm to dearer by Rs 3-5 and sometimes more.
Exporters lent fair support, while whole leaf and fannings received demand from upcountry buyers.
The quantity on offer in the CTC leaf grade was 77,000 kg and the market for good liquoring teas was steady, while others were irregular and lower.
In the dust category, both Mayura SFD and Kallayar SFD quoted the best prices of Rs 165 each followed by Monica SFD at Rs 162.
In the leaf grade, Goldsland (select) BPS fetched the best prices of Rs 247 followed by Goldsland (select) TFP at Rs 246.
