Kochi tea auction witnessed a mixed trend for almost all grades with the prices of several varieties quoting lower.

In CTC dust, the teas which came under the selection of major and regional blenders were barely steady to firm and sometimes dearer. The rest were irregular and lower by ₹2 to ₹3 and sometimes more. Besides, a lot of withdrawals were noticed in the plainer categories, auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis said.

In sale no 21, the quantity on offer was 12,15,000 which was low compared to last week. With 82 per cent getting sold, exporters confined to medium and plainer varieties.

The demand was less in orthodox grades and the quantity on offer was 14,500 kg. The market was lower and witnessed a lot of withdrawals, while exporters absorbed a small quantity.

In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good grades quoted ₹90-130, mediums fetched ₹65-100 and plain varieties stood at ₹58-64.

In leaf category, the quantity on offer in Orthodox grades was 140,000 kg. The market for Select Best Nilgiri Brokens and Whole Leaf barely remained steady. CIS countries continued to be active, while exporters lent fair support.

In CTC leaf, the quantity on offer was 76,500 kg and the market for Good Liquoring was barely steady. Others were irregular and lower and witnessed significant withdrawals.

In dust category, Waterfall SFD quoted the best prices of ₹131 followed by Mayura SFD at ₹127. In leaf varieties, both Chamraj FOP-Sup (Green tea) and P’s Woodlands FOP-S Green tea fetched the best prices of ₹301 followed by Chamraj OP at ₹229.
