The price of the old turmeric increased by ₹700 a quintal in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard.
“At the weekend market, 900 bags of new turmeric arrived for sale and the buyers purchased all the bags, besides purchasing all the medium and good quality old turmeric.Totally, 4,500 bags were offered 70 per cent of them were sold. The traders have received some orders from North India,” said Krishnamurthy, a trader.
Regarding the price, the finger (new) turmeric improved by ₹200 a quintal and the root variety was up ₹100. The price of old finger turmeric increased by ₹750 a quintal in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association and by ₹550 in the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society. The root variety (old) gained ₹100 a quintal in the Regulated Marketing Committee and Erode Cooperative Marketing Society. The (old) root variety lost ₹200 in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
