Pepper markets stayed hot on tight supply amid good demand. Inter-state dealers were actively covering for despatching to north Indian markets. Rajkumari (Idukki) pepper was reportedly traded at ₹715 a kg.
On the terminal market, 21 tonnes were traded. Of this, 11 tonnes from the high Rranges were traded at ₹ 705-715. Exporters were keeping away from the market as prices started moving up.
Spot prices shot up further by ₹500 a quintal at ₹69,000 (ungarbled) and ₹72,000 (garbled) a quintal. On the IPSTA, November futures was unchanged at ₹ 72,000. December moved up by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹72,000.
Export prices were at $11,300 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,550 for the US. Indonesia and Vietnam were offering at $9,900 while Brazil and Sri Lanka at $9,500.
