Puducherry government on Wednesday announced that families covered under the Public Distribution System in the Union Territory would be issued two kilograms sugar free of cost for Diwali.
The sugar would be available till November 15 at ration shops to which the card holders are attached, a press release from the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Priyadarshini said.
Necessary instructions had been issued to shop owners to prominently display the arrangement to supply two kg sugar for card holders for Diwali, it said.
