The total area sown under Rabi crops as on November 13, 2015 stood at 123.28 lakh hectares (lh), lower than 159.30 lh sown in the same period last year, according to preliminary reports received from the States by the Agriculture Ministry.
Wheat has seen the sharpest decline in the area sown/transplanted at 18.65 lh (42.88 lh), while acreage of pulses are slightly higher at 38.91 lh (34.42 lh), according to an official release.
While sowing of coarse cereals has been done on 34.53 lh so far, oilseeds have been covered on 31.02 lh and rice on 0.17lh.
