As much as 34 per cent of 19.51 lakh kg offered at Sale No: 23 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction remained unsold for want of bidders. New price records were created. Two leaf grades from Vigneshwar Estate tea factory which have won ‘Golden Leaf India Award 2015’ have fetched ₹250 a kg each. The Super Red Dust tea of Darmona Tea Industry, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, topped the Dust Tea Market when Oswal Tea Traders bought it for ₹202. Kairbetta topped the orthodox teas from corporate sector fetching ₹256, followed by Kodanad ₹245, Havukal ₹233 and Chamraj ₹227. Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹40-44 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-140 for brighter liquoring sorts, ₹43-50 for plain dusts and ₹110-165 for brighter liquoring dusts.
