Sugar prices on the Vashi market dropped by ₹8-10 a quintal on back of higher selling by producers amid need-based local demand. Enough stocks at market level and prices in other centres ruled at par with Maharashtra kept overall offtake limited.
Arrivals were at 60-62 truck loads and local dispatches were about 58-60 truck loads. On Saturday evening, about 19-20 mills offered tenders and sold about 38,000-40,000 bags at ₹2,180-2,330 (2,190-2,340) for S-grade and ₹2,270-2,450 (2,280-2,460) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,352-2,525 (2,352-2,532) and M-grade ₹2,470-2,682 (₹2,480-2,682). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,310-2,350 (2,310-2,350) and M-grade ₹2,400-2,560 (2,400-2,560).
