Tea Board has informed auction centres that a special auction to sell the teas manufactured to mark the first International Tea Day (ITD) will be held from 8 am on June 22 at Kolkata, Guwahati, Siliguri, Kochi, Coimbatore and Coonoor auction centres.
Teas manufactured with the leaves plucked on May 21, the first ITD, will be auctioned on the occasion.
The Board has said that it will not charge the usual transaction fee of 6 paise per kg for this auction. In all, 286 manufacturing units across the country have listed their teas for this special auction.
