This week at Sale Number 4 at Kolkata tea auction centre, the average prices of both Orthodox and CTC varieties were lower than those in the last week’s sale (No. 3), according to J Thomas & Company Private Ltd., the tea auctioneers.
Thus, the average price of Orthodox at Rs 163.45 per kg was lower than last week’s Rs 164.41 per kg. The corresponding figures for CTC were Rs 139.44 and Rs 136.72 per kg respectively.
An estimated 81.14 per cent (87.29 per cent) of Orthodox and 84.26 per cent (78.27 per cent) of CTC volumes offered were sold.
