The rising trend witnessed in prices in the last few weeks continued at Sale No: 6 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction when average prices rose to ₹80.55 a kg from previous week’s ₹79.35.
Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped overall CTC market and Dust auctions when Shree Ram Tea Trading Co bought it for ₹214 a kg.
Darmona Tea Industry topped the Leaf auctions at ₹196. The Orange Pekoe orthodox leaf tea of Chamraj was the only grade to exceed ₹300-a-kg mark and it fetched ₹301 a kg.
Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹49-53 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹90-165 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹60-64 for plain dusts and ₹110-180 for brighter liquoring dusts.
There was some purchase for Pakistan in a wide range of ₹73-111 a kg.
