Spot turmeric prices decreased at Erode markets as the traders were in a holiday mood. The farmers brought medium quality turmeric and the buyers purchased all the new turmeric and hybrid turmeric, said Krishnamurthy, a trader. He said 5,700 bags arrived for sale, of this 3,700 bags are hybrid and new turmeric. The hybrid finger turmeric lost ₹350 a quintal and root variety ₹400. The local new finger turmeric decreased by ₹350-400 . At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the old root variety was down by ₹800. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the new root variety gained ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the Salem Hybrid finger variety went for ₹5,848-8,133; root variety at ₹5,001-7,014. The local new finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,651-7,823; root variety at ₹5,814-6,599. Of the arrival of 4,545 bags, 2,383 were sold. Our Correspondent
