Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode spot markets as some traders received fresh upcountry demand. The farmers brought 4,000 bags of good quality turmeric and 75 per cent of them were sold. Turmeric futures too were up 2 per cent powered by pick-up in domestic and export demand. Fine variety turmeric increased by ₹200 a quintal for finger variety and ₹150 for root variety. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric went for ₹6,894-8,585 a quintal; root variety for ₹6,579-7,893. Of the 513 bags on sale, 483 were sold.
