Turmeric sees upcountry demand
Turmeric traders received fresh demand from North India. On an average, hybrid varieties increased by ₹300 a quintal and local finger and root varieties by ₹200 . At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, Salem Hybrid Finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,759 to ₹8,573 and root variety at ₹5,050 to ₹7,514 . The local turmeric finger variety was sold at ₹5,300 to ₹7,799 and root variety at ₹4,850 to ₹7,131. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,224 to ₹7,714 and root variety at ₹5,981 to ₹7,064 a quintal.
