In a bid to attract farmers to grow cash crops, the Uttarakhand Government on Thursday approved an action plan of Rs 40 crore with a provision of up to 75 per cent grant.

Under the plan, which was approved at a meeting attended by the Chief Secretary, Mr Subhash Kumar, the farming of vegetables, fruits, spices and floriculture would be promoted on an area of 3,684 hectares in the state, said an official release here.

While the farmers would be given a grant of 50 to 75 per cent for growing vegetables and spices, nearly 20,000 poly houses would be developed under Chief Minister horticulture development scheme, it said.
