A volume of 15.29 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 31 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 67,000 kg less than last week’s offer.
Of this, 10.37 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 4.92 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 14.08 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.21 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 76,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 9.61 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 45,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 4.47 lakh kg, CTC.
Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions last week when Malik Traders bought it for ₹251 per kg. In the CTC Leaf auctions, Homedale Estate’s two grades, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹226 and ₹201.
