A volume of 11.12 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 50 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 97,000 kg less than last week’s offer. Of this, 7.30 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.73 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 10.05 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.08 lakh kg, orthodox variety. Vigneshwar Specialty Red Dust grade, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, topped the Dust auction and the entire CTC market last week when Sree Sai Corporation bought it for ₹231 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped Leaf auction fetching ₹191. In all, 75 marks fetched ₹200 and more.
