A volume of 4.13 lakh kg comprising 3.64 lakh kg of CTC and 49,000 kg of Orthodox has been catalogued for the Dust tea auction of Coonoor Tea Trade Association to be held on Friday.

Of this, 30,000 kg comprises teas which had remained unsold in previous auctions.

This is the eighth auction in 2015 and the past seven auctions had proved favourable to producers with increased absorption at higher price.

In the Dust market, last week, among corporate buyers, Hindustan Unilever Ltd showed interest on good medium smaller grades and orthodox dusts. Indcoserve was fairly active on medium smaller grades. There were fewer enquiries from exporters for medium and plainer teas. Internal buyers were less active.

The demand was less for brighter liquoring teas from upcountry buyers.

Together with 8.22 lakh kg of leaf comprising 7.77 lakh kg of CTC and 45,000 kg of orthodox, the volume offered for Sale No: 8 is 12.35 lakh kg – as much as 1.37 lakh kg less than last week.
