A volume of 12.12 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 9 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is as much as 2.35 lakh kg more than the offer of last week when nearly 26 per cent of the offer remained unsold for want of buyers at high prices. This led the average price to drop by ₹4/kg compared to previous week, although at ₹106.78 a kg, the average price continued to remain above ₹100/kg level for fifth consecutive week. Vigneshwar Speciality Broken Pekoe topped the leaf auction and entire CTC market when Santhosh Tea Industry bought it for ₹261/kg. Darmona Estate’s Super Fine Dust as also Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust and Red Dust topped the Dust auctions each fetching ₹200.
