A volume of 12.99 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 39 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions to be held on Thursday and Friday.
This is as much as 1.18 lakh kg less than last week’s offer.
Of this, 8.90 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 4.09 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 11.99 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only one lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 60,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 8.30 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 40,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 3.69 lakh kg, CTC.
Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire auctions last week when PS Tea Industries bought it for ₹276 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe small grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹266. Another leaf grade of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, fetched ₹238. In CTC Dust tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹245.
