A volume of 15.30 lakh kg is being offered for Sale No: 49 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is as much as 1.99 lakh kg less than last week’s offer. Of this, a volume of 10.81 lakh kg belongs to the leaf grades and 4.49 lakh kg belongs to the dust grades. In the Leaf auction last week, among corporate buyers, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) bought brighter liquoring and better medium varieties. Godfrey Philips India Ltd was selective on medium brokens. In the Dust auction, HUL was very selective on orthodox dusts. Indcoserve was fairly active on good medium and medium smaller grades. There was better demand for brighter liquoring teas from upcountry buyers. Overall, internal buyers were less active. There was good enquiry from exporters for medium bolder grades.
