India and Bangladesh will engage in hectic discussions aimed at taking forward the bilateral economic ties during the visit of the Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Anand Sharma's visit to Dhaka beginning tomorrow.

Besides meeting senior ministers and representatives of corporates in the country, Mr Sharma is scheduled to call on Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, on April 24, during the two-day State visit.

“The two countries share strong cultural, social and economic relations and the visit of Commerce and Industry Minister will further enhance these ties. The discussions will be on the entire gamut of bilateral trade and investment,” a Commerce Ministry official said.

Senior Government officials including commerce secretary Rahul Khullar and Industry Secretary R P Singh will accompany Sharma.

A 20—member business delegation of FICCI is also accompanying Sharma.

The visit is expected to give a push to the two-way trade which is currently estimated at $2.6 billion.
