Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose imprint on the Union Budget was quite visible, said it will fulfil the “dreams” of every section of the society, be it farmers, the under–privileged and youth, as its focus was on job creation, transparency, urban rejuvenation and rural development.

“From railway modernisation to economic reforms, from education to health, from entrepreneurship to industry, the aim at fulfilling the dreams of all is clearly visible in the Budget,” the Prime Minister said on Doordarshan.

Terming the Budget proposals presented to Parliament by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as “futuristic”, Modi said it was a key link between the work done by his government over the past two-and-a-half years and the steps that it will be taking in the future to boost development.

It will bring a big change in the financial condition of the villages, Modi said, adding that the Budget also will also raise middle class incomes without any increase in fiscal deficit.

Highlighting some key features of the Budget, the Prime Minister also mentioned the “record” allocation for the rural job programme -- MGNREGA – and for women’s welfare.

On his government’s move to tackle corruption and black money, the Prime Minister said the Budget provided for a comprehensive package to boost digital economy, which would help in reducing tax evasion and control black money.

Referring to the provision on political funding, Modi said it was an important step to clean politics.
