The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has ordered a special helicopter for rescue and relief operations of the victims of a bus accident that took place at Naldurg near Osmanabad on the Maharashtra border in the early hours today.

Fourteen employees of TCS were among 30 killed and 16 others were injured in the accident. The bus was heading to Shirdi from Hyderabad when it fell into a gorge when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The chopper will take the State Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Mr D. Sreedhar Babu, and the Commissioner of Health, Mr Praveen Prakash, to oversee the relief operations.

The Chief Minister held an emergency meeting at the Secretariat and later spoke to his Maharashtra counterpart, Mr Prithviraj Chauhan, and the District Collectors to enquire about the developments and for relief operations.

He said expenses for the treatment of the injured will be borne by the State Government. He expressed his anguish at the transport department officials in not getting the details of the passengers of the ill-fated bus.
