The findings of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) for the third quarter of 2011 show that Business Line , from The Hindu group of Publications, has registered a growth of 14.2 per cent in its readership.
This growth is highest among any business daily in India. While the category of business dailies in India as a whole has shown growth, Business Line is the only business paper to register double digit growth.
Among the general newspapers, the IRS figures show that The Hindu has registered a huge increase in its readership. According to the findings, The Hindu , among the top three English dailies in India, has registered maximum growth in readership compared to the readership numbers of last quarter.
According to IRS 2011 Q3, The Hindu has added 92,000 readers and its current average issue readership stands at 21,69,000 readers.
In South India, The Hindu has again reinforced its undisputed dominance in readership. The average issue readership of The Hindu in South India has grown by 3.7 per cent. The Hindu has added 65,000 readers in South India and again emerges as the top English daily in the region.
In Chennai, The Hindu has registered a growth of 10 per cent in its readership and has added 50,000 readers. The Times of India in the region has declined by 4 per cent.
The business dailies category in the last quarter grew approximately 7 per cent while the general dailies category grew 1.35 per cent approximately.
