Trials of Chennai Metro Rail commenced in 4-km underground section between Little Mount and AG-DMS.
The train in its maiden run was from elevated portion near Little Mount in to underground tunnels from Saidapet to AG-DMS on down-line successfully, says a release from Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.
It is a step towards commissioning of the corridor for public use.
With completion works of the installation of various systems including tunnel ventilation, signalling, platform screen doors, automatic fare collection gates, the trial run will pave way to CMRL’s plan to commission the underground Metro infrastructure in the Chennai’s busy arterial road, the release said.
