A delegation of intellectuals from a noted Chinese think tank, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), is interacting with industry leaders and government officials in Gujarat to get an insight into Narendra Modi’s vision of development.
The delegation, led by Li Li, Associate Research Fellow, CICIR, accompanied by Wang Shida and Song Qingrun, has chalked out a detailed tour plan of two-three days across Gujarat, touching upon important projects of the Modi government.
According to sources, the delegation will visit petrochemical hub Dahej, State capital Gandhinagar and also the ambitious GIFT City project.
Industry interaction At an industry interaction organised by the Gujarat chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Ahmedabad on Monday, the delegation expressed willingness to engage with India on infrastructure and manufacturing fronts.
“The purpose of visit is to have a better understanding of the Gujarat model of development, and to have insight into the possibility of this model of development being replicated on the national scale by the new leadership,” Wang said.
The delegation also included Kishan Rana, former Indian Ambassador and Professor Emeritus, DiploFoundation.
The delegation will also meet SK Nanda, Additional Chief Secretary, besides meeting the officials of Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED).
CICIR is one of the largest Chinese think tanks devoted to the analysis of political, economic and security policy-related developments at global, regional and national level. The results of their research are presented to relevant government institutions or distributed to a broader audience by means of internal publications.
Positive outlook Wang said China is very positive on the Indian election results and the pragmatic approach of the new government towards its foreign policies. He added that 21st century belongs to Asia and India and China will cooperate on global and bilateral fronts to ensure peace and prosperity for their people.
“Gujarat is one of the top economically growing States. We believe that would be replicated nationally and hence can benefit bilateral trade of the two nations,” the delegation said.
