Jaiprakash Associates, Durgapur Projects and BS Ispat emerged as winners on Day 3 of coal auctions. BS Ispat’s bid for Rs 918 per tonne emerged as the highest bid for the Marki Mangli III block in Maharashtra.

The block reserved for the non-power sector has 4.20 million tonne of mineable reserves and B S Ispat's bid beat JSW Cement, Sunflag Iron and Steel and Topworth Urja and Metals. The previous owner of the block was Topworth Urja and Metals. 

Day three of coal block auctions had the three blocks on offer are Trans Damodar for the power sector which is located in West Bengal, Mandla North in Chhattisgarh and Marki Mangli III in Maharashtra which are for the non-power sectors.

Durgapur Projects won the Trans Damodar block which has 48.40 million tonne of mineable reserves. The block was reserved for the power sector and after bidding hit zero, the bidding moved to the royalty payable to the State Government.

Durgapur Projects' bid for Rs 970 per tonne emerged the highest beating big names like CESC, Essar Power, GMR Chhattisgarh Energy and others.

Jaiprakash Associates, the flagship company of the Jaypee Group won the Mandla North block which has 143 million tonne of mineable reserves. The company's bid of Rs 2,505 per tonne emerged as the highest amongst Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (BALCO), Hindalco, UltraTech and Hindustan Zinc.

On Sunday, Aditya Birla Group’s Hindalco Ltd, Sunflag Iron and Steel and CESC Ltd were the winners.

Anil Ambani Group's Reliance Cement and GMR Group won the two blocks on offer on the first day of coal auctions.
