Crude oil production during January stood at 2.85 million tonnes while natural gas production stood at 2841.45 million standard cubic meters. An official statement said domestic crude oil production was 4.33 per cent lower while gas production was 5.43 per cent higher in January compared to the same month last year. There was lower crude oil production by ONGC during the month. Oil India too reported lower production due to environmental loss, namely due to bandh and miscreant activities. There was also less-than-planned contribution from work over well and drilling wells leading to lower production. But refinery production, a measure of the total crude oil processed in the country, during the month under review stood at 21.94 million tonne which is 3.62 per cent lower when compared with January 2018.
