The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on 'measuring tapes' from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan.

This anti-dumping duty will be valid for a period of five years and would be applicable on both steel and fibre glass measuring tapes.

Measuring tapes are generally used for measuring the length, breadth of an object. These are mostly used by foremen, masons, carpenters, forestry departments and tailors.

FMI Ltd had filed the petition seeking levy of anti-dumping duty on measuring tapes from Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

The anti-dumping duty levied by the Revenue Department ranged from $1.87 per kg to $3.27 per kg depending on the country of origin and export.
