The Government on Wednesday approved an investment of ₹ 996 crore for capital projects of the Central Power Research Institute.

In a statement, the Ministry of Power said that the approval was given to serve the growing needs for research and development in the Indian power sector.

“This will support augmentation of high power short circuit facilities as well as establishment of new test facilities in the existing laboratories of CPRI in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Noida and Nagpur,” the statement added.

The investment will also lead to a new laboratory being set up in the Western Region in Nashik.
