Creating better ports, airports and super highways linked to manufacturing centres should help exports pick up and sustain steady growth in the coming years, according to Vice- President M Venkaiah Naidu.
The Centre is giving greater thrust on development of infrastructure, agriculture sector and health sector, Naidu said at FIEO Southern Region Export Excellence Award function held at Chennai on Thursday. The ‘Make in India’ initiative to support the manufacturing sector together with a focus on infrastructure growth and multiple initiatives for boosting domestic demand will further strengthen our economy, he said.
Naidu said the southern region contributed $61.05 billion worth of goods for exports during 2016-17, accounting for 22.2 per cent of India’s total export.
