HCL Infosystems on Thursday announced it has bagged over Rs 300 crore order from Indian Air Force to deploy the Wideband CDMA-based portable wireless network covering many Air Force Stations across India.

This WCDMA network will be integrated with the Air Force Network (AFNET), deployed earlier by HCL Infosystems, as the backbone connectivity and ensure support for video calls, as well as cross connectivity with other communication platform like IP-based communication within Air Force Network.

“Indian Air Force has finalised the contract for establishing a captive 3G mobile network for its air warriors offering various value added services using mobile communication technology,” an HCL statement said.

The 3G network will also have transportable mobile base stations for establishing communication even from remote locations in the country. HCL Infosystems will implement the whole project on a turnkey basis.

“This being one of the key wins under our Defence System Integration Practice, further highlights the company's understanding in various industry verticals. Adopting a solution-ased approach with System Integration, the company is today consistently winning various projects that are going to play an integral role in architecting the future of the country,” Mr Rothin Bhattacharyya, Executive Vice-President, HCL Infosystems said.

The shares of the company closed Thursday at Rs 101.25 on the BSE, almost 0.20 per cent lower than the previous close.
