The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) on Thursday said the highest salary offer and average pay is likely to be similar to the previous year.

“The highest pay offer was Rs 1.6 crore for previous year batch and even this year the highest pay offer is likely to be similar. However, we have not got final offer details and it would take few more days,” IIM-C placement coordinator Mr Pritish Gandhi told reporters.

The average salary offer for the batch this year will remain similar to last year of Rs 15.6 lakh even as the number of students went up by 38 per cent, he said.

IIM-C said the compensation for slot zero by finance companies offer was Rs 30-40 lakh for Indian locations and Rs 40-60 lakh for foreign locations. Consulting firms on the day offer Rs 15-20 lakh for Indian placement.

In terms of placement by sector, finance contributed 31.3 per cent, consulting 23.7 per cent, followed by marketing sector 21.6 per cent.

IIM-C from this year had introduced concept of deferred placement for its students and five students had opted for the same.

In deferred placement, a student does not take placement on completion of his batch and opts to take placement call later.
